VG – Vegetable Glycerin – An all-natural liquid extracted from plant oils. It is typically clear with a hint of color, odorless, and relatively viscous. It is commonly used in e-liquid to give a ‘thick’ sensation to vapor. VG has a slightly sweet taste and is considerably thicker than PG. The hit from high VG fluid is a lot smoother than PG. It is considered safe by the U.S. FDA. Some of its applications are in cosmetic, food, and e-juice products.
PG – Propylene Glycol – An organic compound produced from propylene oxide. It Is Colorless, Nearly odorless, and retains low viscosity. Food Grade PG is recognized safe by the FDA. In vaping it is used to provide ‘throat hit’, which some claim is similar to the sensation experienced when smoking. It carries flavor more effectively than VG. Some of its applications are in preservatives, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, and e-juice products.
